How was your recent trip to Switzerland & Italy? - D. C.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We just returned form a fantastic trip to Switzerland & Italy. Here is one thank you note we received. Dear Suzy & Terry, Thank you for the wonderful time I had in Switzerland & Italy. I would have never seen such a beautiful scenery had it not been for your great itinerary. I especially enjoyed Mt. Pilatus and the Bernina Express. I also liked the fact you opened the trip with a group dinner to get to know each other...Another thing I really liked was we never had to leave anywhere before 9am! After such full days it was nice to sleep in. I already have plans to see (several new friends.) I still have pictures to develop - I think I will need more than one photo album! And that perfect weather you ordered for us - great! Again, thanks for everything. I will definitely recommend you to others. Sincerely, Jennifer Rhodes Suzy's Switzerland
& Italy Trip Journal: Planes, trains, motorcoaches, boats, cable cars, gondolas, lake steamer, funicular, cog wheel train and ferry were our modes of transport. We were 62 singles with 124 bags who came, who saw, who conquered Switzerland & Italy.... Read the rest of Suzy's journal here... |
How large a bag can I take on a trip? - B.T.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Baggage: Size & Weight Matters
You are allowed one large bag. This limit is due to our porterage service; you also get one carry-on, which the porter doesn’t handle. Typically airlines will allow 2 checked pieces. To avoid airline surcharges, these may be no more than 62 linear inches (a combination of length, width & depth) and weigh a maximum of 50 lbs each for domestic air. International carriers allow 75 lbs per bag. It is also a good idea to place a name tag with your final destination on ALL your bags, including your carry- on. When will 2006 come be announced? - O. Somany
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are working very hard on 2006 gathering air and land prices. It takes about 40 hours to properly plan one single trip. There will be more choices than ever before in '06. We are not ready to announce anything yet. However, since you are a subscriber you will be the first to know.
Do you have any packing secrets? - A. F.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a former flight attendant of 14 years, I learned a lot of tricks of the trade. I could write pages but here are some basic packing tips.
- Roll jeans & pants
- Layer clothes by inter-folding and place pile in large plastic bag so TSA won’t disrupt contents if searched
- Prevent wrinkles, layer with dry clean bags
- Cabin pressure creates leakages so put toiletries in Hefty zip locks
- Include fabric softener sheet to absorb odors
- Bring collapsible hat for bad hair days
- Limit clothes to 3 neutral colors max (i.e. black, white & beige) to mix and match. Shoes & purses consume most space - go nuetral.
- If you need electric converter, don’t forget appropriate size plug for the country (e.g. UK is 3- prong.) Many countries don’t provide washcloths
Carry-on: Place film here. There are hundreds of new fun travel gizmos. Try Brookstone & Container Store. Never bring expensive jewelry. Faux travels best.
Create your own amenities kit: eye mask, clippers, inflatable pillow, new toothbrush with paste inside, eye drops, lip balm, lotion or moisture spray, Ear Planes, Unisom sleep aid, snacks etc. Finally think light to ease YOUR burden. For more travel tips... |

Yes, the New York Times on Sunday July 21 featured our sister company Sober Travel Adventures (www.sobertraveladventures.com) Needless to say our phones are smoking! As a result I have 3 radio interviews next week.
