Adventures For Singles Newsletter
March 2008

We just returned from ASTA Travel Agent Show in Sin City
near Johannesburg, South Africa. It was a 4 day whirlwind
of wok and pleasure at this annual trade show of African
wholesalers from 40 nations. I came to gain knowledge of
unique adventurers after providing years of traditional
safaris. The trip was well worth the jet lag and expense as
I return home with new vacation discoveries that are off the
charts.

At Palace Hotel Sun City
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With local experts, I designed new itineraries that most
Americans couldn't possibly imagine. I became a Madagascar
expert - ask me anything on lemurs and beaches there. I also
learned that poaching in now on an extreme rise with huge
syndicates killing for rhino horn, bush meat and trophy hunting,
Africa's wildlife in truly becoming endangered. We've taken
hundreds on AFS safaris to 7 different countries on this
continent. If you haven't been, now is the time to go!
It was heavy negotiating with each tour operator with my
usual insistence that I need "luxury on a budget for my
esteemed clients." With our large group volume, I was able
to obtain this but the competition between booths was a
fierce as a pack of lions.
Terry and I were upgraded to the Palace of the Lost City - a
"7 star" luxury hotel that rivals the Burj in Dubai. (Room
rates $650-$1400 per night) There was authentic hand carved
furnishings in an atmosphere of age old royal elegance. As
we sat by the pool, baboons and monkeys were chased away by
staff. Sun City is next to Pilansburg Game reserve with the
Big Five, elephant back safaris, hot air balloons along with
casinos, golf, cultural villages and more. It's a great 3
day escape on anyone's tourist trail while in South Africa.
Future AFS Africa Ideas
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are some awesome journeys developing for 2010 and beyond
(Please don't ask for any details now. All we be presented at
the proper time) --
Best of Tanzania, Timbuktu Mali, Lemurs of Madagascar,
Voluntourism Kenya, visiting remote orphanages along with
game game drives in Masai Mara.
The highlight of all for me is our new
"Veterinary Immobilization Experience" in South Africa that
has never been available in commercial tourism before to get
behind the scenes in ethical wildlife conservation. You
will assist a vet team as they track, dart, microchip and
aid rhino, lion, cheetah and elephant. You'll also visit
animal sanctuaries and enjoy daily game drives throughout.
We spent hours in meetings with these renowned vets who
worked regularly with Steve Irwin. After hearing their
stories and what they can do with AFS, my adrenaline was so
pumped that I couldn't sleep at night. First trip will be
in April 2010 with full details presented this June.

Time to get our woollies out. Flying to Bergen Norway, we

Ryanair ponders pay toilets. Passenger may have to insert a
British pound ($1.57) to use flight toilets. This
announcement whipped up a frenzy of potty humor.
A recent study from AirTran revealed that "customers will
spend an average of 2 hours on the Internet trying to figure
out how to save $8."
