peru groupJoin us on an unforgettable journey to the Andean empire of the Incas.  Peru is a cultural paradise.  It’s one of my favorite countries and this in depth tour covers all of its natural wonders at an extremely affordable price.

Cuzco is the gateway to our adventure.  High in the Andes, we tour the Old Town, Temple of the Sun, fortress of Sacsayhuaman and ancient Tombomachay.  Ride a train through the Sacred Valley to majestic “Lost City” of Machu Picchu.  NOW is the time to marvel at this extrainca-4-1.jpg (204x205 -- 16933 bytes)ordinary example of architectural engineering.  These ancient ruins have recently been added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site endangered list.  Beginning January ’06, the Peruvian government will drastically reduce visitors to only 2500 per year!

By private coach we cross the countryside with its llamas and alpacas to Puno, a town rich in legends and festivals.  From here we cruise beautiful Titicaca, the worlds highest navigable lake that borders Bolivia.  Visit the unique floating Uros Islands that are made entirely of reeds and connected by ropes.

Even the houses and boats are woven of reeds.  Over 2000 years ago, the Tiahuanaco Indians fled from Incan genocide by building this floating village.  The Incans are long gone, but the Tiahuanaco’s still live on.  Learn the fascinating culture of these Indians who speak Quechua.  Their livelihood is fishing and handicrafts.  Children interrupt school to greet us.

Tour the archeological sites of Racchi, Pucara and mysterious funeral towers of Sillustani.  Visit Mr. Celestino, an Andean farmer who lives off his land the same way those in Incan times did.  Shop the markets.

Enjoy modern Lima with a city tour and great hotel located in the trendy Miraflores district.  Tour a silver factory that sells its jewelry to Tiffany’s.  On your leisure day you can opt to ride horses or board a small plane to fly over the Nazca Lines.  These mysterious drawings were etched in the dessert plains over 2200 years ago and never eroded through time.

This trip has it all.   Pack your six senses and visit a part of the world where time has stopped.
