Come to the land
of the Maharajahs, Bengal tigers, festivals, yoga and opulent palaces.
As the birth place of Hinduism and Buddhism, it is the land of ancient
wisdom and spiritual devotion. See the variety of cultures that have
coexisted for ages and landscapes so diverse, they seem surreal.
I fell in love with India years ago when I did
volunteer work with Mother Teresa in Calcutta. Initially, it
assaulted my 5 senses with such extreme contrasts. It was however,
nothing less than fascinating. The aromatic food fantastic, people so
friendly, the fragrance and colors so exotic, it was intoxicating. It
is my delight to present it to you now on a journey of discovery you will
never forget. We focus on the best of India with the highlight of
Pushkar, a once in a lifetime experience. In November the weather is
perfect and we’ve secured top hotels throughout.

Begin in Delhi, home to many UNESCO
sites and perfect blend of ancient and new. Tour the walled Old Delhi
with the incredible Red Fort, memorial to Gandhi and bustling bazaars.
Then see the grand monuments of New Delhi. On to Agra with its
dazzling Taj Mahal, a marbled jewel that is considered to be |

 |
|
the most perfect architectural monument
on earth. Tour the fascinating ghost-city of Fatehpur Sikri with
its glorious palaces. Also the royal chambers and tombs of Agra Fort.
Ride the rickshaws, explore villages and shop for silks, gems, rugs and
spices. We’ll spend 3 days in Jaipur, the famed “Pink City”. Here
ascend on elephants up to Amber Fort, the Old Quarter, Palace of Winds and
more.

Journey to Rajasthan region and then to vibrant Pushkar for the annual Camel Fair,
Asia’s most colorful festival. Centuries old but now draws tourists
from around the world and can hold up to 2 million visitors. For 2 glorious days we witness
a riot of activity with 50,000 camels and 200,000 traders. It’s a
pageantry of tribal groups. First the men come over the great dunes
with their camels. Then the women come adorned in their finest attire.
See wandering musicians, camel jockeys, snake charmers, acrobats,
mystics, puppeteers, tailors, trained monkeys, holy men and craft
venders selling everything conceivable. Transportation is by camel
carts, horse or jeep. There are festooned elephants, Ferris wheels, races and
competitions. Here you can get a massage, a ritual bath or a
blessing at a shrine. |

We stay in a lovely lakeside tented village.
Our luxury Swiss tents have bathrooms attached. (There is a
tremendous demand for these much coveted tents.) All delicious
meals are included. At night there’s entertainment of folk dramas
and dances around glowing campfires. Other companies are doing
this same itinerary for over $5000. This is one rare event of true
adventure.
This trip is for the experienced traveler. Discover the mysterious and timeless land of India. So vast, so great. It is a world unto itself! |
