Kenya 2005 Notes
We had a marvelous adventure with our 2 groups of 91 people on the Kenya safaris. My suitcase has become my home as I was away for a month and depart to India next week.
In working 24/7 to ensure things went smoothly in Africa, I had no time to write a journal. It was brilliantly orchestrated and I wish I had penned some notes as I was moving my troops from Nairobi to Mt. Kenya, Sweetwaters, Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Masai Mara. Our suitcases swelled enroute with purchases of handicrafts nearly bursting our jeeps but we moved well.

Friendly Giraffe
Each group saw an eyeful of wildlife including the Big Five and accumulated over 3600 digital photos which we’ll now share via the net. The weather was glorious and not a mosquito in sight. We were pampered with fine accommodations, 7 knowledgeable guides and fresh omnipresent food throughout.
Safari highlights for some include the hot air ballooning, white water rafting, seeing cheetah bring down a gazelle and witnessing the migration of about 20,000 wildebeest crossing a river of giant croc’s. It was a spectacle right out of the Discovery Channel. I kissed a Rothschild giraffe and petted a 2 ton rare black rhino named Ronnie.

Meeting a Masai Warrior
For me however the most overwhelming moments were shared with the Kenyan people who stole my heart. At the Masai school in the barren plains, we sang a Swahili song to children as they danced for us. We conversed with warriors and entered their mud huts. We delivered supplies to an orphanage for 80+ children whose parents died of HIV/AIDS. These were the humbling moments etched in my mind to make it a worthy journey.
We received a dozen letters and emails sharing my sentiment and stating it was a trip of a lifetime. I’ll close with just one hand written note that sums it up.

Dearest Suzy & Terry
I want to say to you both that you have changed my life forever. I had always dreamed of Africa, of what she had to offer and you made it all come true beyond my expectations. It was my best vacation experience ever. As a small boy watching Tarzan or teenager reading safari books, I had longed to walk with the animals and interact with the great warriors. I did that and even have a Masai as my new friend. I loved the tents best and you guided us well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and know that I love you both for your kindness and friendship.
