Great Quote – Burton Holmes was the greatest world
traveler of his time in the early 1900’s. Before he died at age 88,
he summed up his 60 years of globe trotting with this...
”The only things I own which are still worth what they cost me
are my travel memories, the mind pictures of places which I’ve been
hoarding like a happy miser for a half century!” |
Site inspection of Dubai (We'll offer this in 2008!)

My passion for travel is still a fire deep in my soul that
occasionally must be stirred. I’ve always been drawn to Arabia and
set out now on my own desert fantasy. My mom seems to think my life
is one big vacation by leading groups around the world ...In reality
it’s been years since I had my own getaway. I can’t remember the
last time I saw something for the first time. Already I miss my
husband, but need this escape to recharge my over stressed
batteries. It’s a deep need to forget myself, to play and to be
astonished. No better place than 21st century Dubai which was like
landing on another planet.
There are 7 emirates on the Arabian Gulf that are sandwiched
between Iran, Qatar, Saudi rand Oman. What’s an emirate? A kingdom
ruled by a Sheik. Dubai became a Sheikdom in 1833, but nomadic
tribes had settled here 3,000 years ago. They survived off the sea
in this arid land. Once upon a time, this rich but obscured kingdom
decided to become the world’s premier tourist destination. It
expanded at an alarming rate by adding 500 miles of new waterfront
with countless man made islands. Now it is called the “Las Vegas of
the Middle East” with its sun, sand, sea, snow and sex. It’s also
referred to as the “St. Tropez of the Gulf” or “Monaco of the
Desert” because it’s so ultra-chic.

Wouldn't it be great if you could get a little help before you left
for the airport? Sure, you can check in and print boarding passes.
But I'm talking about parking and waiting for security.
Well, now you can. At AboutAirportParking.com, you'll find
information on the country's top airports. Find out if there are
delays – and which flights will be affected. You can also find how
long the average security wait is.
And, even if your airport is one of the largest in the country,
you can still find out about airport parking. Compare rates at lots
close to the airport. And find numbers and directions for parking.
That way, you can call ahead to see if your chosen lot is full.
Also don’t forget about the travel resources on the AFS site such
as currency exchange cheat sheets, time zones, NY Times travel news,

2007 Trips – What an incredible response...uh oh.

We received around 2000 requests for 400 spaces on these trips. At
present there are only 4 trips open. March Costa Rica- 7 spaces
open- land $899 Come celebrate nature’s museum of unspoiled beaches,
lush rainforests and mysterious cloud forests. Just a few hours
flying time and you’ll feel you’ve arrived to another world with the
screeching howler monkeys and colorful birdlife. Costa Rica is a
privileged country that is unrivaled for its natural biodiversity.
One quarter of its land is set aside for conservation of it’s flora
and fauna. It is a favorite tourist destination because it’s a
stable country with friendly local "ticos." So near, so beautiful
and a ton of fun. This is our 6th trip and in "Green Season", March
is the perfect time to visit. Our adventurous itinerary includes
swinging in trees, soaking in natures hot tubs, rafting, guided
nature walks and a hike up mighty Arenal. You’ll be pampered
throughout in the most comfortable accommodations and it’s such an
affordable price this year. This eco-paradise is a feast for all
your senses. Don’t miss our tropical vacation to the "Garden of the
Americas" where there are no artificial ingredients!
April - Morocco- 4 spaces
September - Grand Mediterranean Four Country Cruise- 8 spaces
November - South America 6 spaces
December - Lapland Adventure 4 spaces
Suzy is busy writing the itineraries for sold out July Tuscany,
August Singapore and Borneo, September Zambia, Botswana, South
Africa and the rest. We hope to have it all available in about a
month if not sooner. Please bear with us.
We never had trips fill this quickly. After announcing our '07
schedule, China, Borneo, Tuscany and Zambia were filled in hours
with hundreds of requests. Some have over 400 on the waitlist! At
first we thought this was a blessing. Then reality set in when we
tried to add extra trips, obtain more air and found the prices to be
considerably higher.
We wish we could accommodate everyone, but based of client
feedback we are limiting group size and this means fewer
participants per trip. In ‘08, we’ll try to predict the “uber-
popular” destinations, block more space and plan more back to back
trips to accommodate our growth. We hate disappointing anyone, but
with this unprecedented demand disappointments will be inevitable.
We are very sorry.
