Suzy, you often mention UNESCO sites that we visit on your trips. What are these?

unesco A wise question as few really know this is “United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization” World Heritage Sites. Presently there are 812 around the world.

It all began when Egypt decided to build the Aswan Dan in 1952 and an international campaign was formed to safeguard the project. 50 countries came to the rescue. Eventually a convention to protect other awesome sites such as the Great Wall, Machu Picchu, Pyramids, etc. was formed. New nominations are always presented. The committee evaluates each based on its “outstanding universal value” within various categories. These include masterpieces with cultural significance, architectural influence, historical value or natural sites for beauty. Our 2006 itineraries will cover over a dozen of these sites!

How was Iceland?

There quarters of Iceland is covered in ice yet when we arrive to sparkling Reykjavik, there is no snow. Surely global warming is a reality if there’s not even a flake in mid-February!...

I heard there's space on the gorilla trek, is there?

gorilla trek Yes we have 2 spaces are open! We were fortunate to secure 10 park permits as only 24 are allowed per day in the entire country. We secured an excellent price and air route from JFK to Africa for our gorilla trek Dec 5-17. Beautiful accommodations, all meals, 24/7 guides and trackers. This is an absolute once in a lifetime extreme adventure at its finest. (At a cost of about $5000 including everything, this is half the price of an Abercrombie & Kent trip!)
